So...CONFESSION. Middle school was full of interesting and embarrassing infatuations for me. We all know that middle school was awkward and I was the epitome of it. I say all this to tell you... I loved ducks. Not just loved, I was borderline obsessed. I had a duck lamp, pillow, countless stuffed animals, purses, t-shirts, need I say more? (I told you middle school was embarrassing!) Needless to say, if something had a duck on it, I had to have it. It's so funny to me now, but it was serious business then. One time I was in Michael's, as I often am, and I was flipping through their newest selection of print posters. Lo and behold, what catches my eye? You got it, A DUCK. Mind you, this was no ordinary "quacker". This little guy was different. He was an adorable yellow duckling with fire engine red Converse tennies on. Pause for just a second and picture that. If that doesn't make you fall out of your chair laughing, I want you to check your pulse! I am giggling while typing this just thinking about it! Haha. I have a point... PROMISE! This duck wanted to wear shoes... he wanted to be different!
God calls us to be different. In His Word, He differentiates between the broad way and the narrow, the tare and the wheat, the goat and the sheep. As Christians, God calls each of us to be holy unto the Lord. Holy means set apart and sanctified unto God. In 1 Peter 2:9-10, we are called His own special people. We are purchased and possessed by HIM! Believe me, there is nothing special about looking like everyone else. The world is not your friend! Are you willing to stand out like a sore thumb in order to bring glory to God? I challenge you: Dare to be different and stand for Christ!
We have to allow God to reorient our thinking from a life of selfishness to a life of service. Serve HIM, Stand for HIM, and Live behind the power of HIS cross!
Psalm 1:1-2
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
